Here are a few ideas for using your Buzzword Cards:
Setting Norms:
Buzzword cards can be used to help develop social norms for groups or individual work. Each card shows the concept that would help create a supportive setting, and then examples of what that might look like can be discussed. A possible prompt for this discussion could be: “Select a card that shows something you need from this group to feel welcome.”
Goal Setting:
Use Buzzword Cards to facilitate a conversation about what goals participants have for your work together. This can be helpful to allow participants to connect behaviors with their desired outcomes. You can even ask a participant to select one of the behaviors that they plan to implement during the next activity, session, or day!
Processing an Activity:
Allow participants to select a card that expressed a word connected to their experience during an activity. Have them answer the facilitation question to the group or to a peer to help them expand on their thoughts.
Evaluating your Work:
“What card represents something that has contributed to our work together?”
Feedback:
Buzzword cards are compatible with wet erase markers. Have a participant put check boxes next to the behaviors that they witness during a session or activity. This is especially helpful if it connects back to norms or goals!
